What has happened to the Unplugged Masthead? It has gone off the edges?! On the contents page, the writing in the bottom right in grey is not effectively laid out and and is a bit basic.

I really like the double page- maybe try making the font of the main story darker so it is more visible on top of the red 'L'. The area to work on is the front cover as I think that the font types are a bit weak and it has blank space. CHECK YOUR IMAGES- THEY NEED TO BE ORIGINAL! Have you got a variety of types and distances and are the ones on the contents your own?

Double Page Spread Draft 3

I feel that my article is ledgible even though the red 'L' is behind it. The article is set in 3 traditional columns in black and traditional font therefore its unisex and easy to read. The page number is easy to find and stands out in bold. i put the picture in black and white as i didnt want the colours in the photo to clash with the house style of my magazine and it also makes her look more sophisticated. her name is big and the white contrasts withe the black on her top. The caption underneath gives the reader an insight to what is included in the article and by using Ladt Gaga's name would make them want to read therefore i put 'GAGA' in white to show its importance.
Withtin the article i also made celebrities names bold to draw attention to them. My article includes 'Lucy B' being asked several questions about her life and what she answered. Above the article is the artists name repeated in blue to ensure the artists name is remembered.
Double Page Spread Draft 2

This will be the layout for my double page spread. I decided to use the whole left page for the picture of my featured artist so my target audience dont find the article boring due to the text. the vertical writing down the side 'Unplugged EXCLUSIVE' shows the audience its personally new and eclusive to them and the repeated logo reminds them of the name of the magazine. The magazines website is also repeated at the bottom with the page number in bold beside it. the red border conforms to the house style as well as the 'L' being the first letter of the artists name. The article will consist of three columns of text on the right page overlapping the 'L'.

I think the overlapping is effective on the right hand side and it is easy to read. Is there any way you could divide the sections on the left with some subheadings so it easier for the reader to find the part they want?

Contents Page 2nd Draft

On my contents page i have experimented with over laping images and text. Here i have made the 'CONTENTS' text over lap the main image rather that the 'O' being covered. The contents box on the left is not over lapped by anything as it is important information for the reader and should be clear and accessible.

Good to see a draft up here Ellie. Work now on layout of the front page- you probably want a close up as the main image and have it centred.

I really like the look of your proposed title... only one issue, I think there's a possibility that it sounds like a reference to accoustic music (there was a series of TV programmes featuring well known artistes playing accoustic guitar rather that their usual electronic stuff e.g Eric Clapton Unplugged) If you think this isn't an issue, then go for it
Article
For my double page spread article i want the audience to find out more about the big new artist thats on the indie scene. therefor i write about my featured artist and her life, how she became famous, what she has been doing (making an album etc.) and then interview her by asking questions about music, celebrities and herself. This way the article will let the audeince know what kind of person she is which would promote her as an artist and make her connect with audience. i will write about my artist in a way that will appeal to both males and females as because my featured artist will be a girl the male audience might not want to read it.
On the front cover i will use a pull quote that will instantly want the reader to buy the magazine and read the article. i will use a shocking quote to do this and make sure she is accessible to the whole audience and is seen positively.
Final Font Style (Title)

This is my final draft of what the logo/title of my magazine will look like. However i would like to make it slightly thicker so it stands out more and i would like to create a smaller logo of a microphone which links to the 'Unplugged' as it refers to unplugging a microphone and i will use that next to the title and repeat it through my magazine.

Planning is really important but I think you need to get through it a bit quicker as construction has the higher mark
Fonts
I chose 'Unplugged' for the name of my magazine as it refers to a microphone relating to music and is unique and rememberable. These are 5 font types i think look best for the genre and that match the name. I prefer the 3rd font down and the loops in the writing remind me of a microphone wire which connects with the name of the band. The red fading into the black matches the indie genre and does not look too masculine or feminine.

Names
For the name of my music magazine i tried to think of catchy, snappy names that would be easily recognised and easy to remember as well as linking with the indie genre. The top 4 i thought of: The Beat, Unplugged, Rhythm and The indie scene. Overall my favourite is Unplugged as it is unique, short, snappy and easy to remember.
Double Page Spread Plan
The layout of my double page spread will be easy to read due to the traditonal 3 columns of text that will be on the right side of the page aswell as the page number and repeated magazine logo. i have decided to make the whole left page a picture of the featured artist to show his/her dominance and it will make the text look less boring as articles have a lot of information in them. the only text on the left page will be the name of the artist.
Contents Page Plan
This layout will allow the audience to clearly and quickly see what is in the magazine and where. the images i will have on the page will break up the text so it does not look cluttered. i have repeated the logo at the top of the page to ensure the reader remembers the name and logo of the magazine and so it keeps to the house style and the magazines website will be put at the bottom so the readers can get even more music information and this promotes the website even more.
